Question regarding school loans

I filed BK November 26th. I am behind on my TFC Credit student loan 3 months now. I called them today to arrange for me to pay so I can continue my schooling. They said to me....Oh I see you filed chapter 7? I said yes but that doesnt include student loans so I'm here to make arrangemnets. They said well since you filed chapter 7 we have to talk to your attorney. So i gave them my attorneys name & number.
I can still log into my school to do homework...? (My schooling is online).

Has anybody been in this situation? I want to continue to do my work but I dont know if its going to be a waste of time?

Technically if you call them they can talk to you. They can't call you though due to automatic stay.

At least I'm pretty sure that's correct, call your lawyer.

I didnt explain myself. My question is since I thought school loans are not part of BK can I continue my schooling? If they do wipe out my school loan debt does that mean I cannot finish my schooling?

Correct, your student loans are not discharged in your bankruptcy. And yes, you can continue to receive student loans since most student loan programs do not depend on your credit.

Yes, I'm going back and I'm in the thick of Financial Aid and Loans. The advisors at both the school I'm attending and the government both know about the bk and there has been absolutely no problem.
