Advice with tax refund - trade?

Not sure yet as far as how much it will be, but is it possible to use it toward a newer vehicle (NOT brand new). We have a truck that has almost 200,000 miles on it that we own outright and we woudl trade it toward a newer one. I just keep reading that bkers should trade before filing.

If it is okay, would the court frown on the fact that we would be trading our not-totally exempt truck toward an exempt truck?

This does seem to be very common advice here in the forum. If you are going into a 13 it absolutely makes sense to have a vehicle that will get you through your payment plan. If it were me, I would still run in past my attorney, just to make sure that you stay within payment amounts that wouldn't cause issues...

We are going to try for a chapter 7. Does it work with a 7 too? I am definitely asking the atty, just curious.
