A newbie question regarding chapter 7.

Hi everyone, just found this forum while looking for information about filing bankruptcy, my main question is.

I have a utility bill that was sent to collections, do i have to pay that or don't pay since im filing chapter 7.

also will i qualify for chapter 7 with no asset, no income?

The utility bill can be included in your BK. You can qualify for a BK with no assets... but I have no idea of your situation from what you put in your post, so it's impossible to know if you're a BK candidate or not from the info given.

Ah sorry about that, Currently i have over 35k unsecured debt from various credit cards and 1 citi loan, 1 utility bill. I don't have any assets, no job (still trying)..

as of tomorrow my credit cards will be charged off and sent to collections, if i don't pay total of $335. Should i pay that? or don't worry about it.

Well, if you're going to be filing, then NO don't pay those cards! Now is the time to set up those free consults with attorneys and find out what your options are and if this is the right time to file. Good luck! I recommend doing tons of reading on these forums and on other sites, the more you know, the less scary the whole process is.

Thank you very much trixie, it's been a painful journey for me. for the past year i have try to avoid bankruptcy at any cost and now i simply can't handle it anymore.

I do believe this is the right time to file, and will contact lawyer on Tuesday for free 15 min consultation.
