HSBC Bank and Orchant Credit Card

    Dear all,

    Greetings!

I was reading with much interest your comments regarding the Orchant credit card, so please let me ask you a related question. Sometime ago I was approved for an Orchant credit card that I haven't used at all, so I am not planning to include it in my BK7. However, I do have an HSBC Bank credit card which I am planning to include as part of my BK7. And, as you might know, HSBC Bank is the parent company of Household Bank. So, obviously, you might already know what my question is: will my Orchant credit card with zero balance, even if not included in my BK7, be cancelled based on my including of the HSBC credit card in my BK7.

Of course, HSBC Bank is not exactly the same as Household Bank, just the parent company...so what do you think?

One way or another, I will not include my Orchant credit card in my BK7 petition, and if somehow this card is cancelled afterwards, well, there is nothing I can do.

    Most cordially,

    Albert L.

Great question to which I don't think anyone knows the answer to. Orchard might want to keep you as a customer but then agian if you're not using the card they may not see the value in having you as a customer and might cancel you. Legally if you don't owe anything on it you don't have to include it in bk. Let us know what happens.

Well, if I recall correctly, I didn't include a couple of CC's in my 1995 BK and they stopped all charges until they received a wrtten agreement (This was after BK discharge) that I would pay the amounts...

Since I didn't often deal with them, I just pitched the agreement and the cards too.

Most cc companies will "cancel" your credit cards whether are included with your bk with a balance or not...... Once claiming BK you become a risk, and they notify you of cancellation....

So even if you don't owe them anything - be prepared to have it cancelled if the company sees fit....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

          Hello, Minny!

Thanks very much for your opinion.

Of course, I and everybody else agree to what you are saying; however, your assertion applies mainly to regular credit cards. The Orchant Bank credit card is sort of a "special" credit card for people with bad credit, new to credit, people who have filed BK, etc. So, with this credit card, I don't know...anything can happen.

I will definitely post my post-BK experiences with my "zero balance" CC's when the time comes.

          Best,

          Albert L.
