Question on alimony

Is alimony or other mandated support (federal agreement, though not necessarily court ordered) considered dischargable?

First, what is a "federal agreement".

Generally, if it is money paid to support a spouse or child and it has been ordered or otherwise approved by a court of law, its non-dischargeable.

Spouse is immigrant, I had to sign I-864 (affidavit of support) to sponsor her, which promises the government that she won't draw means-tested benefits.

So while it's not court-ordered, it's a contract I made with the US government.
