    Insurance settlement from accident

Okay, I'm probably posting in the wrong forum, but I know you guys have good answers.

I was in a car accident on Friday driving to work. Someone who might have rear-ended me ended up broadsiding me as they were swerving to miss me. I found out today that the car is pretty much totaled - the repairs for the car are more than it's worth.

I plan on using what settlement I get from the insurance company to use as a downpayment for my next car, whatever that might be. Is there anyway the trustee is going to know about this or am I free and clear with this money since it's going for another car?

I'm a paranoid little critter and I don't need anyone telling me that I have to fork over money that I got from an insurance settlement.

Thanks. Sorry if I'm rambling. I'm still reeling from the accident and the news of the totaled car.

You are discharged so you are fine to go buy another car with the insurance proceeds! Happy car shopping to you.

You might want to check with an attorney regarding that accident. I think you may be covered under Workers Compensation. I think driving to and from work is covered and you can recover from any injury you might have sustained. Won’t hurt to look into it and most lawyers won’t charge you unless they can recover something for you. Sometime injuries can pop up over time even if you feel fine now. Just a thought!!
