In Oregon Can You Claim This Exemption If Car is Owned Free and Clear

There seems to be conflicting information on this exemption issue. In Oregon, can I claim the Vehicle Ownership Exemption if I do not have a loan against the car. If not, I might be in trouble for the means test.

There are different opionions from the courts on this issue and any insight will be helpful. I will be filing pro-se and don't want any trouble. This is a very wrenching time in my life.

    Thank you for your insight.

Hi, I just filed in Oregon and I kept 3 vehicles I owned free and clear in my bankruptcy. We exempted two of them and the third was valued at less than $800 so we got to keep that one too. Our other two vehicles were only worth $2,500 total to begin with, so we were under our $3,500 exemption for vehicles. My parents filed in Oregon too and kept their paid off truck valued at $5,000 and a car valued right at $1,000. So it just depends on how much the vehicle is worth.
