Someone Screwed Up!!!

I mailed my forms in priority mail with Delivery Confirmation. I did not request a signature. I just wanted to have something to say that they got there.

I checked on the USPS Website and this was the message that came back:

Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 9:53 am on October 13, 2005 in BOSTON, MA 02114 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Now I am trying to figure out where my documents are. Is this a temporary message that will be updated later to say delivered? Did the person who delivered the package make a mistake and check the wrong option and it was realy delivered? Did the mailman think it needed a signature and return it to the post office? Or did some lazy person at the bankruptcy court decide to turn away this mornings mail?

What is going on? This is as stressful enough already without this mixup. All I can do is call them tomorrow but I doubt it will be logged into their system yet. I do not think I can collect the package myself. It also of course includes a money order for my filing fee.

I assume everything is OK. I just do not know what to do!!! All I can do is call in the morning and hope there is some record of them receiving my documents.

Take an extremely large chill pill or you are going to have a nervous breakdown before this is over. Deleivery was attempted and a slip was left so that it could either be picked up or information ws left concerning redelivery. The automated system is backed up and either the package has not been picked up or will probably be picked up tommorrow. I work in the court system, depending upon the size there is normally someone that checks the mail once ot twice a day, they will pick it up. Wait until after lunch Friday and call the clerk. By that time someone will have picked it up and then check the computer late in the afternoon and it may or may not show. I mail stuff like that all the time and depending on how busy the Post Office is it may take 2-3 days to show, in the tiny small print you should see that also. Again, take a deep breath, there is nothing you can do tonight except worry and that itsn't going to help you, you got a few more months of this to go.

Thanks for easing my fears a bit. It is just a little fustrating. I guess I do have a few months of this to look forward too!!! I guess I can count on my bald spot growing a little in the next several weeks

Seems like something of such importance would be taken care of in person when so close to the cutoff date. There is no way I would put my financial future in the hands of some lazy postal employee or nutcase UPS operator when so close to the cutoff date. I would consider it if we had a month to go; even that is pushing the limits.

Anyone hear about that letter from WWII that just got delivered? It was written by a US Soldier who never made it back home; that was his last letter. Was sitting in a post office for 60-something years until some letter jockey finally put 2 & 2 together and forwarded it to the right location.

Good lord, I was trying to calm him down, not stress him out. Thanks alot!!!!!!! BUT you have good point. (i really am the devil's advocate)
Dabeaver, please tell us that you made copies of those??????? Call the clerk around lunch(or whatever the drive time is from you to there, in case they don't make it) Or you could call and ask them what time the check the mail, and see if they got your package on the 13th in the afternon (might not show that yet on the internet).
But Dabeaver, for you and us, don't wait till the last minute, things will go a lot better and ssmoother for you if you have all your documentation in order and check it twice before the 341 meeting. Scout out the location and get there early.

Yeah I went to the court today (Thurs) in Detroit and it was pretty packed; about a 4-5hour WAIT. The thing that suprised me is that only a few people there seemed to have the amount of paperwork I did. I made a total of five copies of everything plus the original. All sorted with different clips. That is about 3 inches thick of paper. Lots of people had just a few sheets or just a thin manila folder. I have a feeling that 4-5hours wait has something to do with people that are not prepared, "I want to declare bankruptcy today now what do I need to do..."

Would it help the cause if I got everything two-hole punched up top? If so, what is the official spacing?

i DON'T KNOW THE SPACING RULE, I AM SURE THAT THERE IS ONE.
The wait was probably due to all the filings.
I didn;t have quite that much paperwork but I had duplicates of what I knew that the trustee didn't have, the bank statements etc.
I promise you, I listened closely to the questions the trustee asked and I answered them in my head, my poor husband was almost clueless, because I handle most all of the paperwork. I did all the paperwork for the bankruptcy, all the gathering of documents, etc. (our lawyer wanted documents to back up everything). Every now and then he wanted to know if we had such and such documents? Drove me crazy, but it kept me from having a nervouse breakdown.

I think my husband accepted that I had everything under control. He actually asked at one point over the weekend if he even needed to go to the 341!

When we sent the final payment and the info for our lawyer to type up we sent it next day, we paid $13.95 but it was guaranteed to be there AND they had to sign for it. It was a relief.
However our lawyer WOULD NOT take the chance with the US Post office and we had to go in to sign them, even though it was over an hour drive...it was such a HUGE relief!!!!

I was(am, told my boss I was changing my name to Drama, becuase I swear it follows me) under so much stress over the last 18 months, I didn't think I would get through it, about 30% was husband caused, 20% was procrastiation on my part, it took me forever to fill out that book our attorney nicknamed a petition, (god love her, I do). But I found this forum in March or so, it has been a godsend. Looking at other posts, seeing their stories were similiar to ours and the stigma of filing didn't hurt as much. This forum helped me keep what little sanity I have. This isn't like sitting in the dr's office and discussing arthritis woes, it is very personal and one that you want to keep on the down low.
OK Dabeaver - update us ASAP on your outcome and will keep a shoulder free for ya and the kleenex free flowing, but you will survive and then you can lend a should to the prospective ones out there.

Well, I called the Court, they have no way of knowing if they have it. The Post Office where it was sent back to looked for it in the returned mail pile and said it was not there. They said most likely it was dropped off yesterday and the mail carrier hit the wrong button on the scanner since they are right next to each other. He said to look for the updated tracking info tonight. If it did come back, they would have attempted to deliver it again today.

Hopefully there will be an updated status later tonight, if not, I have to call the Postal Supervisor in the morning. If they do have it I can hand deliver it to another Court House.

I am 99% sure it is in the office waiting to be logged in. I know you do not want to worry about things, but Murphry's Law, whatever can go wrong will go wrong. So that 1% is just making an already stressful experience more stressful.

USPS was updated again this morning saying notice left at 6:37 AM. I do not know what is going on. I could not reach either the post office or the bankruptcy court today. This is a headache. I cannot wait until it is over!!!

I am a carrier. Always send important doc's overnight/delivery confirmation (sign for signature not required)
1. requiring a signature means that someone must be there (bus. r usually closed on sunday. that gives a sub reason just 2 leave a notice.
2. If the bus was open u can sue the po (must have exact information)
3. If u call the 1800 # the only question u should ask is for the # 2 your post office directly.
4. After u get the number ask for the manager of the station (take the name of the person u r talking 2. If the manager is not available ask for the name and number of the Area Manager (this info must be given).
5. When u find a manager/Area Manager give them your info (tracking #, tell them the history of your package and remind them of your alderman that u want them manager/area manager to find your package and to have it hand delivered to the location and 4 u 2 be called back at that time. make them responsible, because they r. that 1800 # is not even in your state. And even after that u can sue. make sure u have your dates correct and that u ask what carrier (usually a sub, regulars do not deliver on sundays) was on that route that day.
