    Emergency Filing Checklist...

Why the heck to they make it so confusing... gotta check so many places to get the info...

Here is what I have been able to find out. I'm filing today (Friday 14 Oct 2005) also!

Required for the basic or emergency Chapter 7 filing:
    • The Petition (B1, 2 pages)
    • Notice to individual consumer debtors (B 201, 1 page)
    • Notice of Available Chapters - (local San Jose req't?)
    • Creditor matrix cover sheet - (local San Jose req't?)
    • Creditor matrix (for scanning/ocr or backup)
    • Creditor matrix on diskette (.txt file)
    • Statement of SSN

Original plus FOUR copies. (UPDATE: only needed two.)

    TWO-hole punched at the top.

The creditor mailing matrix is supposed to be sorted by name, and pages numbered on the BACK side.

Check for YOUR local requirements!!! There are minor variations... I called the court clerk in San Jose twice on Thursday afternoon, the phone rang for 30 minutes both times before I gave up!

    Anything else???

    Update...

    UPDATE --

Things went very smoothly on 10/14/05. Got there just before 9 am, there were 20 people in line... done by 10:30 am... when there were over 75 people in line...

I only needed two copies, one for the court clerk, one for me to keep...

They stamped them as FILED... 10/14/05... with a case number...

Minor snag, when I checked PACER on 10/19 they listed one form missing... Statement of SSN... I had turned it in... went to court clerk and filed it again...

Now, I just need a 341 meeting checklist!

All that is required at the 341 meeting is your drivers liscense and SS card.
But I would also take along checking acct statements for the last 6 months, and check stubs from payroll checks. Include in this titles and deeds to home, vehicles...

      Better prepared than not!!!!

        Thanks, Minnie. good to know!

The lender has the title on my truck, so I guess all I need is my registration then?
