    Need Reaffirmation Opinions

OK... I need some thoughts from my BK friends...

My wife is filing a Chpt 7 in a couple weeks, pro-se.

I will be following with a Chpt 13 in Aug/Sept. (I know, it sounds strange, but my debts are from a previous marriage and it doesn't make sense to make payments on my new wife's debts for 5 years when we can do it this way).

Anyway, we're trying to decide if my wife should reaffirm her minivan.
It's a 2008 Toyota Sienna with 16k miles on it.
    It's worth $19k.
She owes $34k. (Needed to trade in a newly bought small car when doc said she was pregnant with triplets...)
    Interest is 13%.
    Payments are $700/month.
    She is unemployed.

Everything above screams to surrender the van.

    Now the other side.

We have newborn twins (the 3rd didn't make it... *sigh*) and need a reliable, larger vehicle.
She may not be able to get another loan without employment.
My credit score is about 410, and I'm currently paying 29.9% interest on my own car. With my pending Chpt 13 I doubt that I could help in any way other than putting my income in the "other sources of income" box.

It's a bad deal to reaffirm, but if she can't get another loan... we're screwed.

I submitted a 722 redemption application, but that was a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything back.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks so much in advance!

    722 loans are high interest.

What kind of car you have?

Long term it makes no sense to pay 34k for a vehicle worth 19k.

Would it be possible to perhaps buy a used vehicle for her, from a trade mag or local paper ad. Something that can do you through possibly the next 5 years but not a long term plan. You would need to of course be sure its value is below her bk exemption.

This is my opinion only, get rid of the high payment cars. Don't reaffirm or otherwise carry the debt thru your BK - take advantage of your fresh start. Dump every payment you can -
