will this make my atty angry? ..and if so, do I care?

Our trustee objected to some of my exmeptions. My atty went back/forth (did a GREAT job), and the trustee agreed to a settlement of about 2400 that should get my case closed (I'm already discharged).

A "stipulation" doc was sent to me..and we signed it and returned it to the atty... 2 weeks ago.

then, silence. Who do I pay? When? I didn't know if the trustee plans to send an invoice for the 2400 or what.. I left a message with the atty and didn't hear back.

So, yesterday I (gulp) called the trustee's office just to inquire. I don't want to offend anyone, I just want to pay these people and get my case closed! They said I probably shouldn't be calling...but they added that they have NOT YET RECEIVED the faxed stipulation from the atty.

So, do I confess to the atty that I called the trustee and that I know he forgot to fax my stipulation? ...and that he must fax it NOW?

I'm afraid that if I do this, and some new issue complicates my BK, my atty will be PO'd at me for this indiscretion and will drag his heels.

Call and tell him that you are 'following up' as two weeks have passed and you have heard nothing. Don't say anything about calling the trustee just yet.

But if this little 'follow-up' doesn't do the trick, then lower the boom and tell them you called the trustee. You may end up having to call the trustee's office again to get a duplicate set of papers sent to you. Then sign then and send them back yourself, certified return receipt.

We had similar problems with our attorney and ended up dealing with our trustee's office ourselves because neither we nor they could get hold of our attorney.

This is really sucky, all the lazy attorneys who don't do their jobs and leave customers to do what they paid the attorney to do. It is the attorney then who puts everyone in a bad position because they flat out don't care. I love those stories where attorneys are drug onto the red carpet by trustees for screwing their clients over and not doing their job.
