    Difference in trustees

What is the difference between the local trustee and the US trustee?

    #2
This may or may not answer your question, but my understanding is:

The local trustee is interested in finding assets NOW.
The US trustee is interested in getting you into a 13 if at all possible. (The local doesn't benefit if you get converted from 7 to 13.)
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

StaciMM - that is my understanding as well. Bottom line is the U.S. Trustee has the final say - the proverbial 500 lb gorilla.....

Edwards you stated you had no problems with the trustee but the US Trustee. How does the case ever get to the US trustee. They can't possibly look at every case as it seems almost impossible. Is this an audit they do and you got unlucky when you ended up having to prove your case?
