    B 22A Line 21

    I have a question..
    On form B 22A Line 21
Is this the location I would put in the amount of my mortgage payment above
what is allowed on line 20b section A??
The allowance is $1380 but my mortgage payment is $2473...A difference of $1093, that is what I had hoped I can put down on line 21.
    Thanks for any advice!

    Line 21...
"Local Standards: housing and utilities; adjustment. If you contend that the process set out in Lines 20A
and 20B does not accurately compute the allowance to which you are entitled under the IRS Housing and
Utilities Standards, enter any additional amount to which you contend you are entitled, and state the basis for
your contention in the space below:"

If you have a mortgage payment then you are allowed to use the entire payment (line 20b). So in your case you can out down the entire $2473 (unless you are surrendering the house, then whether or not you can use your actual mortgage depends on case law in your district).

Line 20A is the IRS standard for utilities. Line 21 is intended for the (rare) challenge of the allocation of the IRS Local Standard for housing into separate rent/mortgage and non-mortgage components. I wouldn't plan on using it

Thanks for the response...I am going through the form again double checking everything. Its just that my mortgage is much higher than the "standard". I am not planning to file myself I am just trying to determine my chapter eligibility...I want 7 and not 13 but the attorney wants $$$ before they will do the means test to confirm and I want to know.

at the rates they want the only way I can pay them would be to miss a mortgage payment...
