    Storm damage insurance money

    Happy Halloween!
I filled chapter 7 on Oct 9th 2005. I received a check in the mail today,
(10/28/2005) from my Insurance company, for damages done to my home on 9/29/2005 from a storm, (hail and wind damage). This is not Gulf coast stuff, I live in the Midwest. Can I have my home repaired with this money or do I have to give it up to the trustee?
Thank you in advance for your help>

Wow good question. I think (IMHO) that you'd be allowed to have your "Domicle" repaired as it's needed to let you live.

Consult your attorney (If employed such) for consultation.

Yes you can fix your damages. Be prepared to show proof that they were fixed. If you do your own repairs and there is money left because you didn't pay a "professional" you will have to show that as income, especially if it is a fairly large amount. If your income changes a certain percent(THINK???20%, you have to report that to the courts., I am not sure of the %, )
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
