Thanks for reading my thread.
My wife and I had had a significant drop in income over the past 2 1/2 years. We have sold almost everything trying to keep our heads above water. We were recently turned in a car and then were sued in small claims court for breaking an office lease. That was the straw that broke the camels back and we filed.
We couldn't afford an attorney and felt we had to file immediately to keep from getting our second car repossessed or have our wages garnished from the lawsuit. We opted to go thru bankrupcyseven.com. They are a doc preparation company and seemed very knowledgeable and helpful on the phone. I spoke with them several times before actually contracting with them.
We don't own a home and have no real estate. We are independent contractors and considered self employed. We didn't think our situation was very complicated and I consider myself somewhat resourceful, but now I'm a little nervous.
We have a few concerns:
First I have a flat bed trailer probably valued at about $600 that I didn't list on my assets. I wasn't trying to hide it, we just didn't think about it when we were filling out the forms. The trailer is at my parent’s house and we haven't used it in over a year. I simply forgot it was mine and should be listed as an asset.
Second I listed a motorcycle on Craigslist several times but could never sell it. It was posted for sale before we filed and is still listed on Craigslist. I put it down as an asset but just received a call from someone who seems to be a serious buyer. I could use the money but am scared to sell something that I listed as an asset.
Third and last The home we have rented for 5 years is being foreclosed on. We will probably need to move before the bankruptcy is over. We will get our deposit back and be able to save rent for a few months before we need to move but that money will need to go towards a new place to live.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. We have even discussed selling the bike and getting an attorney now.
