    surgery before discharge...

I am more than likely going to have surgery at the end of December and I have just filed chapter 7 (oct. 15th). My 341 mtg. is Nov. 15th. I had medical bills at a hospital where I had emergency surgery a year ago that I had to file on this chapter 7. This new surgery will more than likely be the end of Dec. or beginning of Jan. Either way, I'm sure it will be before my official discharge. (I happen to work at this particular hospital!! Does anyone know if this could pose a problem w/the discharge or refusal of the hospital bill payment

The only thing is since the surgery is AFTER your 341, I don't think you can amend you case? I may be wrong. If you can't add it, you would be responsible for this upcoming surgery. As for the the older bills; we filed on a hospital in which we had over $8000 worth of bills, ironically this hospital is my hubby's employer. To date we have not had any problems, our 341 is over and the trustee ruled us no asset. His employer never said anything to him. In fact I was on the phone with HR today, and everything seems to be fine.

One thing is so big that the HR dept had no idea that billing had gotten a notice of our filing.

    good luck to you

        Thanks...

for that info. pink!! I will find out in about 3 weeks as to whether I will be able to move forward w/the surgery in December. Providing I am able to do this surgery, (it is an insurance issue...) it is fine if I have to set up payments w/the hospital. I would of gladly paid the FIRST bill, it was just that w/all the sickness and missed work, I couldn't catch back up. I guess I was unsure as to whether they could DENY a needed surgery because of me filing chapter 7 last month. I hated to file anything at all w/this hosp. since it is my employer, but I felt I had no other choice but to file in order to have a "fresh start" in life all the way around.
