What happens with the mortgage, you just continue to pay? I am also in nevada and will file next wed. I thought if you were going to keep in the new law said you have to reaffirm, or is that bad information.

Congrats on the discharge, I cant wait till the day!!

My situation is different because my parents are cosigners on this house so I did not reaffirm so they cant take the house. I did surrender another property. I did have the reaffirm papers but did not sign because of possible layoffs coming before thanksgiving as I work for a casino in bk and they seem to continue to downsize. I just wish I had found this forum before I had the parents cosign. I'll continue to pay the mortgage but chase makes it difficult as they do not restore online access, Honda restored online before we were even discharged. Now time to rebuild credit and stay on cash only basis. Good luck with your bk Johndoe.

Thanks for the wishes, Yeah I am still torn about letting the house go, We bought a house with a previous value of 400k in Aliante for 197k. The payment is only $1500 so I would like to keep it. But having been out of work for 6 months I am wondering if I will be able to make the payment after bk if work does not turn around. The only problem with letting it go is I believe we will be paying close to that in rent even for a two bedroom apartment. So I guess its a wash, still trying to figure it out!

WE are giving ours up because of the job market, how long it will take to turn it around, and of course hubby's health is a question mark for us. Being close to 60 makes you realize that not having a house payment could be a good thing...
