does chapter 7 take care of chex systems too?

I was put into chex systems about 5 or 6 years ago. I was 18. I had to file bankruptcy earlier this year and it was recently discharged. Am i still in the system? I have had a checking account from bank of america for about 3 years now and everything has been good with the account. I tried to apply for another checking account about 4 months ago and I got denied because i was in the chex system. did the bankruptcy help or hurt my chances of another bank?

It takes 5 full years to get out of chexsystems. Chexsystems will in some situations remove your negative entries if they are related to a bankruptcy and you send them the discharge papers.

well.. i feel like its def been 5 full years. or is it 5 full years from your last denial? i got denied a few months ago when i applied. I thought it had been long enough. I actually just sent for the chexsystem report alittle earlier. so i guess we will see in about 5 days

i know from working in banking that it doesn't just fall off. There's people that are on chexsystems- and can't qualify for regular accounts. Baiscally it's a warning to other banks that there is a history with the customer of some type of abuse (bad checks, negative balances, chargeoff's etc). If you included the amount in your BK - you should be able to send it to chexsystems. I don't know if that will get you off the system though...
