    341 Complete

Tampa Middle District. Trustee was very nice and asked usual questions. Several people were filing 2d bankruptcy.

While I was there a couple was not allowed past security because both of their drivers license were expired. They were unable to attend their 341 today. Not sure what the consequences were.
Check your driver's license if you have 341 in Tampa.

    Hi Ana,

Things sound a bit more strict down there. Here in RI, there was no-one to check IDs at the door. In fact, you could just walk in, and you had free reign of the building it seemed. And this is one of the more 'functional' government buildings in Providence. Besides the Bankruptcy trustees, this building also houses the FBI, and others. You think they would be a bit more security aware in these times...

Anyway, we were only asked for our DL by the trustee when it was our turn.

Our local Fed Building is high security, but everything else (local and county) you could walk in - set up house keeping - and live there 3 months before anyone noticed.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

I remember laughing when I walked into the federal court building in Detroit. The first thing I seen was the security desk where you put your things in a basket and walk through a metal detector. So I walked up to it and the security guy asked me what room... I told him the room number and he says "oh the bankruptcy floor..." then points to the elevator accross the hall and tells me the floor number. Of course I already knew that but thought I had to go through security first... but nope. I walked over to the elevator and went straight to my BK hearing room.

You would think that they would check for guns and weapons. Especially with the BK courts... alot of stressed out people on the edge ready to go off.

LOL, I agree with Genenco....we're too poor for guns, lol.

The federal building where we had our 341 didn't have any security either. I was so surprised! And mad too, because I had taken off all my jewelry (cheap) in the car so as not to set off the metal detector. I could have walked in there on stilts, brandishing an assault weapon in one hand and a lit crack pipe in the other and no one would have done anything!
