Filed in Illinois...have a couple questions still - esp re Christmas

Our hearing is 12/30. We are totally scaling back this year on Christmas presents, but will the Trustee look to see what we spend and what we buy? Obviously, we won't get any big ticket items, but I'm just wondering if they look back at bank statements for the previous few months to see what was spent???? I'd like to buy some toys for my kids, but don't want it to become an issue.

I wouldnt worry about it as long as you dont shop exessive like $200+ for each gift. Afterall, you are supposedly dirt poor bankrupt then buying a $400 gift is not going to go over well probably. From what i hear, yes they can go back on previous statements but I think they only look if their suspicious of some strange activity or smell fraud/u go off on their financial radar blowing hundreds. Then again i dont know, I asked about $200 being left in my checking and my question was blown out of proportion. Will be interesting what other posters say but honestly i wouldn't be worried. You didn't buy your spouse a $500 ring for xmas right lol??? (joke btw...)

$200 gift for some people is different than $200 gift for other people........depends on your income, lifestyle, etc..etc..

you could get around this by purchasing gift cards or some small amounts and adding them up into larger amounts...........there is a way around everything........a safe in the closet is better than a checking account at a CU where you are cross colateralized
