Can I buy a car before I get my discharge?

I filed and went to the meeting of the creditors. I am in TN. I am waiting on my discharge now. I have saved up and have enough to buy a cheap beater car to get me from A to B. Is it OK to buy one now or do I have to wait until I get the discharge?

I don't want to buy something and then get it taken away, but I won't have but one car after the discharge and I need one for my wife. I found a car that I want to purchase with the cash I have saved.

My attorney told me that it wasn't a problem for me to buy a vehicle prior to discharge. I surrendered my car (was upside down) and needed to buy something.

If you filed with a attorney, double check with him/her. But in my case, I was told it wasn't a problem.

Just don't finance it and you're fine.

If you can pay cash for it, go for it. You will be okay. Good luck to you and your wife.

          Thanks for the help.

I just bought cheap transportation with cash.
I plan on not using debt again if I don't have to.
It feels good to own something and know you don't have to pay any payments on it.

You have to ask the trustee before you take on ANY new credit before discharge, but if you are paying cash, I don't think it's a problem. Good luck

              OK that makes sense.

Thats all I could find when I was searching for an answer was people talking about taking a loan on a car before discharge.

my second car lasted about 1 year cost me also 200.00
they ran and didnt require any work to get on the road
year later one blew a head gasket

The DUI cars I see say: Confiscated - NO TITLE AVAILABLE
Can you still get the title?

yes as long as you live in the state of tn
you just take the the bill of sale to the mva and they will issue a title in your name

i have done it with no problems

                          Thanks

I already bought a Durango from craigslist for $1100, but this could be useful in the future.
