before the changes in law for a bk filing you could find 500 to 1500 for bk 7. its just additional paperwork for them and most dont know how to do it yet lol. i would look for a better priced attorny that doesnt tell you up front that they dont know how to do it, which is a form of you not being able to hold him accountable - think about it.

I disagree. (Suprised, lol?)
Right now, all the attorneys are in the same boat-they're figuring out the new laws. I'd prefer someone who was honest about it to someone who put on a show as if he knew it all.

When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

well i agree with you in general on it. but in this case id pick one that doesnt admit it, given that they all dont know how to do it. so pick one that doesnt say he doesnt know how the law works.
that way, one - he might actually know more, and two - he cant come back and argue with you that he told you he didnt know how it worked. thta is how all agreements breakdown when one party is unhappy with the other parties work.
thats my logic anyways.Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

I don't want to give the impression that this lawyer was clueless or didn't know what was going on. He had clearly done his homework on the issue, but because he hadn't filed under the new law yet, he properly warned me that there is no way to know how things will change in practice. Understanding the law on paper and knowing how it will be applied in the real world are two different things. As Staci suggested, I'm sure this will be the case with any lawyer I contact.
Having said that, I am searching for another lawyer if only to get a second opinion, get a better deal, learn more, etc..

you can find a good attorney by using pacer to see how many they get dismissed... but you have to download thousands of petitions to get a good estimate...
ok never mind!

I thought of a REAL way for you to make money to cover your Pacer bill, BKFiler! Save the pdf's for the ones you download, and sell them for $.02/page. Just have to sell each one 4X to make back your money. Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research.
