    Credit Counseling options

i tried a search but the closest thread matching my concerns was over two years old. i'm filing ch.7 and my lawyer has giving me a list of 3 credit counseling companies:
    1. Greenpath: greenpath.com
    2. Springboard: credit.org
    3. Consumer Credit Counseling: gotdebt.org

so, i'm just wondering if any of you have any recommendations or info regarding these companies.

    thanks in advance,
    Mike

For what it's worth, it may be buried amid the local rules, but your court district's website probably has a list of acceptable vendors too.

Honestly? I doubt that it matters a whole lot which one you pick. Go with the cheapest one accepted by your district. Our session (which we completed on-line) cost us $25 and was 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. That's really all I can say about it.

ok, i just thought some might be quicker to finish, faster with delivering a certificate, etc.

        thanks for responding.

          I used abacus-dot-org

It was $25 for both of us, very simple, and certificates were e mailed instantly.

You just need to check to make sure they are accepted in your area.

abacus.org has nothing to do with credit counseling. perhaps there's a different web address.

$30 for pre-filing counseling for one person, $45 for couples. Payment may be made by debit card, credit card, electronic debit or money order.

Make sure they're accepted in your district by checking here:

I used Green Path and they didn't charge me either time. I explained to them that I was on unemployment and was truly bankrupt (probably had little more than lint in my pockets that day).
The course was basically "information" on being beaten over the head with save and budget (as if I hadn't already done that) and aside from being frustrated and wanting to scream at it " "and what do you do when the year's savings run out" or "how do you budget $0", I was relieved that at least it was free.
