    UPSIDE DOWN on Car

I have a car that I Owe $15,000 and is worth only about $8,500 and needs a new transmission for about $2500 (4 wd). Its a 1999 SUV with 101,000 miles.

My understanding isthat if I don't reaffirm and keep making payments that they usually won't come after it if I'm current. I also have been lead to believe that my on time payments won't show up on my credit without reaffirming.

Here's my question - If I voluntarily turn the car back in after discharge (discharge scheduled for +-15 days from now) does the voluntary repossesion show on my credit?

Also I NEED a car to get back and forth to work - after discharge who would give a car loan? If I go to a dealer that carries their own notes this won't show up on my credit for on time payments would it?

Any help or success stories are greatly appreciated!!!

If you turn it in now, or 6 months from now, the same should show on your credit report: Included in Bankruptcy, $0 Balance Owed. (Or something similar.)

As to financing after Bk, that is another can of worms. It would probably be a good idea to try to get everything fixed on your credit report first. I get plenty of things in the mail-you will just have to be careful, run the #'s for yourself and decide what is good for you to do.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
