Recieved a lawsuit settlement and they took half...

I filed chapter 7 back in June of 2003...My mother died and we sued the doctor for wrongful death. When I received the lawsuit money they took some of the money and repaid my debts back to the creditors. Is there any way to get the bk removed from my credit report? Also how many years will it take for the bk to drop off my credit report...is it 7 years?

    Thanks!!!

If you filed BK, you are stuck with the BK, no way to legitimately get it removed.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is on your credit report for 10 years.

However, it does NOT AFFECT your credit that length of time, most peoples' credit will recovery within 2 years from discharge.

Chapter 7 stays on your report for 10 years. All of the accounts that were included in your bankruptcy will drop off after 7 years (in a few months).

The bankruptcy shouldn't be affecting your credit too much right now.
