Chapter 7 Time Frame

How long have most of you waited before creditors stop calling day and night? I turned in all my paperwork and schedules and paid my attorney three weeks ago. I spoke to him this week and he is just now giving my file to a paralegal. Is this normally how slow the process is? So it may be 2-3 months before the collection call stop.

once you get your case number and officially filed, give it a couple of weeks tops. the clerk will mail to all your harrassers that you have filed bk and they MUST stop, if they don't answer the phone and give them your case number. If they kept on calling, they're in trouble

If you're sure you're filing you can answer the calls and tell them you're filing. Our phones calls stopped with that.

We filed a week after turning in all our paperwork, one meeting to go over the petition and it was done. But another attorney we met with said 4-6 weeks to "prepare the petition" and I didn't like her.
