Do the credit card companies just keep sending out monthly statements like they always have until my case is discharged?

I just received a statement but found out today it has been discharged. Tried signing on to my online account and it has been closed. So I called citibank and ask them what is going on and found out it has been turn over to a recovery company. No sooner said then done they call, rude nasty people!

No, the statements will stop, that is considered 'an attempt to collect on a debt' and would be a violation of the automatic stay.

When you're paying a mortgage outside the plan wells fargo (and probably others) send you statements that say "this is not a bill" even though it looks exactly like a bill.

They should print "for entertainment purposes only" on them.
