Last day for objections. Now what?

Well, today is the day that was listed as the last day for objections to discharge. According to pacer, I've been in my current status for 57 days, but this is the deadline day according to the deadline documents.

Once today is done, is it over? Is there any real possibility of something going horribly wrong tomorrow? I hate being so close to the end and still not knowing for sure...

No its not over. But very close. Be calm and it will happen.

It is near over. Also just be aware that it is routine in some cases and not unusual for the deadline to be extended. In my case the deadline went beyond my discharge by 4 months, wierd but it happened. If you are no asset, no problem.

Give it a few days in case they take time to post. But, if you had no questionable cash advances, balance transfers, or large purchases relatively close to filing the chance of a creditor objection is minimal. And, if you had nothing that the trustee was interested in, the chance of the local trustee objecting is not an issue. Last, but not least, if you were not high income nor did you have expenses that were possibly unreasonable, the US Trustee should not be concerned with you.

Keep in mind that objections are not random-there has to be reason for them. So, while it is not over yet, most likely it will be soon. After this, your discharge could come at any time. The courts are busy though. If you hear/see nothing for a week or so-call your clerk at the BK court to ask. Often, they can 'enter' your discharge.

bandrat, this is the time that the US Trustee complains. he mostly always waits until the last day. he wil only complain if he sees you got some money to get and share with everyone in a chapter 13. if that aint the case then you are over. creditors would have already showed up most likely.

if you dont see anything by this time next week plus 3 days then you are pretty much safe. whoo hoo!

staci- the US Trustee is for every court. he is local as well. there are many of them acorss the country.

Bkfiler-there are 2 trustees. THe one you meet with at the 341 wants your stuff (aka desk), and the US Trustee wants to get you into a 13 if possible.

yes i understand that. the 341 person is a trustee. the other one you dont meet unless you are in conversion trouble is the US trustee. he is local as well. he sits at that court. there are many for all the courts.

it just sounded like you thught there was only 1 US Trustee presiding over all the bk courts in the land.

I've just always heard them labeled as the 'local' trustee and US trustee. I guess the one you meet with at the 341 doesn't have a special title.
