If he is a collection agent, he is trying to leave a message on your machine that will scare you and intimidate you by making it seem like they're about to file suit.

They are not supposed to leave anything more than name & phone #. Can't say ANYTHING to allude to the purpose for the call.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

The same man called back today- This time he stated that he was XXXXXX, a paralegal from UCB Inc. (I found them on the internet, a collection company.) He left our case number on the cell phone 3 times.

This is the same company that has been calling and harassing my m-i-l. (We lived with her temp.) She has repeatedly told them we don't live there and refuses to give them any info.

I'm gonna have to talk to my lawyer about this. My m-i-l is starting to get mad they keep harassing her, and I feel horrible we put her in this position.

you need to list each and every event that happens clearly.

so far what they are doing is not against the law imo. but you dont know how long it will go on. so keep records and any proof.

it takes a lot to win a case.

I agree that it's probably best not to talk to them, but they kept calling me at work. When i told them I was filing for bankruptcy they told me to call them back with a case number. That was it. There were no objections, and I was discharged 1/25/06. As a matter of fact several of them asked for a date and then called back to follow up. Go figure.

its easy to stop the work calls. you say that you will lose your job if people call you at work and tell them to stop it. it has to stop.

otehr then taht they can call you one each day, every day, to collect until you file bk.
