Well after reading the exemptions Colorado has no cash exemptions. So I guess what I will do is pay everything I need for the week before hand. Do you think if I called my sons dad to give them $25 they could just leave my bank account alone? I don't want to close it.

Except for certain circumstances...
unless you have a rush to file bk...the best way to approach it is follow the above mentioned rules...90 days prior to filing, pay off your monthly bills and keep under $100 in your bank account. If you have to deal with the direct deposit issue, maybe file a few days after the money comes in but be able to show checks written for necessary expenses that had to be paid. CYA (cover your ass). If you have taken cash advances on cc less than 6 mo. before your actual date of filing bk, I don't know...I'm sure they're cracking down pretty hard on that little scam. I personall, would wait a year if I had outstanding cash advances on cc...unless it was used for medical reasons...anything else, just imagine having to show receipts for what you took the cash for...
Since the inititial rush of filing on old laws is over, and once all of those of us who filed under the old laws have been processed, it would be logical that the trustees will have more time to spend on cases; and ask more questions that demand longer answers...that's why the majority filed prior to the new law...a number of us had a lot of sticky issues.
this being said, get the answers to your questions settled through knowledgeable parties WAY prior to filing that paperwork...once it goes through, you can't retract it without giving up your right to file.Filed Oct 2005discharged February 2007,Shapeless in the fire's glow, tell me if you think you know,

I filed BK last July and was discharged in November. I didn't have any creditcards or loans linked to the checking account at my bank and continued having my paychecks directly deposited throughout the BK process. In my case, there was never a problem. Everything progressed according to plan.
Good luck.
