Getting bad advice on IRS and BK?

A GOOD tax attorney is needed, sometimes in addition to a good bk attorney. The Ga. state taxes can't be bk'd, but they can be negotiated and they will accept payment plans generally no longer than 1 year. GA DOR also has an oic provision now.
Question for Art or anyone who knows: The state of GA (among others) have begun using outside collection agencies to collect. If those taxes were turned over to the ca, can't they be discharged in bk as a 'collection account'?
thankeekinely!

Thank you for updating us.
Your post in archives was one I had read prior to joining because I was worried about a business tax issue, and I wondered what your outcome would be with finding a lawyer willing to go toe to toe with IRS.
Please stick around, and jump in if you see a post you have input on...August '05 Business failed.

The IRS is wanting permission to use professional collection agencies to go after the smaller amounts due to the government; they are going to be using them as designated collection AGENTS for the IRS, and the CA is not buying the debt, so US government still owns the debt, not the agency. I bet Georgia is doing the same thing with the collectors, and so it probably won't disappear in BK the same way a Chase account, for example, sold to a collection agency.Originally posted by poorme
