Got my discharge today! A question...

Okay, so my 60 days ran yesterday at midnight, and the discharge order was filed with the court today. Hooray.

Of course, my case is still open -- as the trustee is investigating whether any money is available from a trust for which I am a beneficiary. It's up in the air... and IF the money is available, believe it or not, every creditor would be paid in full with that money. Such is life... easy come, easy go.

    But I have a question.

There is a judgment against me for $20K from a ridiculous civil lawsuit from a sibling. I never fought the case (had no money for a friggin lawyer).

So, does anyone know if I have to file something in the court where the case was filed and consequently the judgment was entered?

Or does the judgment just sit there as IF the plaintiff could enforce it? (though if the plaintiff did try to collect on it by filing an abstract of judgment in, say, the county where I live....that would be the same as collecting the debt, which is against the discharge order).

Curious if anyone has any experience with this.

Thanks for EVERYTHING from everyone here.

    Lucky you

65 days and counting. I am getting nervous that mine is taking so much longer than everyone else's.

Not to worry. Keep in mind that the trustee has TONS of cases... and it's a matter of paperwork. The good thing is, I assume, is that there were no objections in the first 60 days. Very good. And I assume that your trustee filed a report after the first meeting that it appeared this was a no asset case. Those two variables probably spell success for you!

My trustee is an efficient guy to say the least... he had my order filed on day 61. Granted, he's still looking into probably assets to seize... which assets I wish I could keep. But the bk behind me.... worth losing that money.
