    FEDERAL Employee

what will happen to a federal employee if she files for Bankruptcy.

    Will she be terminated?

    please advise

Nope, a federal employee cannot be discriminated against for the sole reason the employee filed BK
    See BK code section 525.

HHM is correct, they cant fire you but....... if you hold clearances they may be downgraded or taken for a while if DIS decides to investigate why BK was necessary. When I worked for the gov't - this was an issue, and while not terribly bad, it is looked into and you must divulge it if you hold clearances. ETA: Forgot to mention that its also possible that you may be required to go to HR for "courses". For the life of me I cant recall what its called though...its a part of HR...but has counseling (like family, debt, abuse etc).

Sorry my brains fried - been sick for the past few days - if I remember, I'll post here.

        Good luck to you!
