    first meeting

just met with attorney for the first time, nice guy reasonably priced...i had to cut it short for business reasons..
he said i was pretty cut and dry case for chapter 7..
just wondering, do i need to bring my documents with me (collections/debts) with me? or can he pull a credit report and find the info.
i was gonna call him and ask but he is out of town until friday

First of all I would meet with at least 3 more attorney's. I did and that was one of the smartest things I did. I pulled my credit report myself for free at www.annualcreditreport.com. It provides all three reporting agencys and is great for filling our all those forms. Take your time and read as much as you can on this forum and you will probably know as much or more than most of the attorney's you meet with.

We met attnys who told us to get our own Credit Report. CPW gave you a good link. That's the one we used.

Other attnys said they would do it, but would charge a fee of between $25 and $50.

Depends on the attny. One told us about AnnualCreditReport.com and said we could do it ourselves for free, or their office would do it for $50. The rest were either/or. Your attny may want to run it himself.

khennion, if you get a chance review some of this attorney's cases on PACER if you can.

Do all attorneys need a credit report or is it just in case you don't have your statements available?

good thinking i will defenitely check into that...
i just figured it would be easier to grab a credit report instead of saving and sorting all bills/collections

Everyone we Consulted with said they would need a Credit Report if we decided to have them represent us. We didn't need the CR's for each and every Consult. I guess, if you retain the, they wanna be sure you don't forget to include any old debt that may have slipped your mind??!!
