can i do a PFD while in Bk 7

I just had a CA show up on my credi report. i forgot to include this debt in my bankruptcy. it is for $350. but i am still in the bk process, so i was assuming all collection activity must stop. can i send a letter to this company telling them i filed bk but i will do a pfd for 250 with them

I don't think you can. Why don't you adjust your schedule and include this debt instead?

The alternative would be a PFD AFTER your discharge but I would go with the adjusted schedule.

You can send them your notice of bankruptcy, return receipt requested, and that will likely stop them from collecting. You can file an amendment to your Schedule F and creditor matrix to include the CA. However, if you are a no-asset Chapter 7, the pre-petition debt is generally viewed as being included in your bankruptcy, so you could probably get away with not amending the petition and just sending the notice to the CA. Personally, if I forgot a debtor, I'd go ahead and amend the petition ($26 court fee, and if you used an attorney, a fee to them to prepare the paperwork most likely) if my case was still open.

If you are a no-asset case, you can even do that after discharge.

Payment for Deletion. You pay a creditor and in return, they agree to have the account removed from your report.
