I just received my bankruptcy discharge about 2 weeks ago. Chapter 7 no asset, pro-se.
Received a letter today from Bass @ Associates wanting to make arrangements to return an item,(s) I purchased at Best Buy that was included in the bankruptcy. Best Buy did not show up at the 341 hearing.
Their letter does not specifically name anything and they want me to indicate the name of a person to contact to make arrangements to return the collateral.
Obviously what they want me to do is to make an offer to pay for the item,(computer).
I thought about the following strategies and would appreciate your comments:
l. Do nothing.
2. Respond that I don`t have a clue as to what they are talking about and please let me know specifically what they want.
3. Send a letter requesting proof that they are in fact authorized to pursue this matter of the behalf of Best Buy.
4. Indicate that I returned this item to Best Buy months ago and they should check with them.
The retail price on the computer was about a $1000.00. Not sure why they simply did not show up at the 341 hearing and try to work out my reaffirming the debt for say 400.00. Suspect they waited to after the bankrutpcy so they hoped to get more money and avoid expense.
At the end of the day believe all they can do is spend money in court to have someone come out that will have me so nope don`t have it.
At this point in time I have no interest in giving them a penny or the computer. Real dirt bags.
Thanks,
