I wonder will this work just like my regular car payment? I'm guessing I will have to reaffirm this loan because I need to keep the car. I had to leave him 12 months of post dated checks for payments. He did give me a list of scheduled payments for my records.

I did it!!!

I got the title loan yesterday!! I read the contract 3 times it did not state anything about filing BK in the contract. He did ask me if I had ever filed BK before and I just shook my head no. He then asked if I planned on filing anytime in the future. I acted like I was looking for something in my purse so I didn't answer the question. He didn't ask again so I technically didn't lie.

So it looks like I will be meeting with my attorney again next week to go over the paperwork and will be filing a short time after that.

My mortgage company has been calling me none stop since Monday so that is making me nervous. It's the HELOC people calling.

Right! so...Saturday if DMV is open, else Tuesday...

In my state you can call the DMV or look online - most car dealers/loan places in most states do this electronically. So maybe today or if it's an overnight batch process tomorrow...or saturday you can check I would say.

Add them as a loss payee to your insurance policy too.

As someone else already mentioned, make sure the lien is perfected before you file. There have been cases where the lender took too long, forgot, etc and the trustee was able to take and sell the car.
