I rarely carry cash except to pay for parking. Everything goes on the debit card (which is also my overdraft protection/LOC that I fear will be shut down)--I pay 1 bill per month with a actual physical check--everything else is via electronic means. I know so many places that don't even accept checks anymore.

I did the rent a car w/debit card...
...in Chicago when I had my car impounded for paraphenaila in Illinois...did you get that one?....LOL...at Xmas! Imagine me carless with suitcases & a pal who just had to spend the night in jail somewhere near Gilman, IL...called his lawyer who drove us to the airport...
My first experience using a debit card for a car rental...the lady really didn't want to do it but I started crying...(hell, we'd driven all the way from Sarasota to IL...was doing 100 mph in the 4runner in the midnight hour & I woke up (friend was driving...) to the flashing red/blues...
So, they tacked on a $350 deposit to my card (which was refunded) and we drove out of O'Hare the two days before Xmas with a rental on our way to Madison, WI....
Needless to say, that bf is back in WI with his Xwife & I am back in FL where I belong...no more winter road trips with just a debit card...
