Short Sale after 7

Update. So it took forever but we sold the house and got this off of our plate. It actually went pretty smooth once the banks approved the short sale. The second settled for next to nothing. I just want to remind people who have property and are thinking about filing for Chapter 7, Do Not Reaffirm your Mortgage. I followed the advice of our lawyer and advice on this site. By not reaffirming I had more leverage and gave the banks more incentive to do the sale. I also felt comfortable walking away and not paying which helped get the banks on board. Not being beholden to them for anything for the first time in a long time is very liberating. It was a hard lesson to learn but we have no credit card debt, no mortgage, 20k in the bank, pay for everything in cash, and save every month. Filing for Chapter 7 was the best thing I have ever done and it saved my sanity. When I look at where we were a year ago its amazing to see how one tough decision had such a positive impact on our lives.
