Will they want my TV back?

I bought a new TV ($1400) in September '04 and am just filing my bankruptcy paperwork this week. Are they going to want my TV back? I bought it via my Sears card.

    Thanks

Sears will not want the TV. They will show and you will pay something, they may take the unit in lieu of cash. Sears is one creditor that usually shows. I would opt for a small cash payment and keep the unit.

With a BK it will be awhile before you get another high end unit

Two my creditors are HP shopping and Dell. Purchased items in 2003. Nothing 2004. Are they secured creditors? If so-- my question is how much will they want? Most of the items I purchased either no longer work, sold to help pay bill or still have. The computer I bought from HP is about 1 1/2 year old. If they want too much, it would be better for my buy a new one. My meeting is Friday.

When my parents filed 12 years ago - or so...they had a Sears charge that they used to purchase a Snow Blower. They sold the snow blower. Sears showed up at the meeting and wanted the blower back or money. They had to pay...

Chances are the Sear's credit card is a secured credit card. Hence, there's a 50/50 chance that they'll want the item returned to them, if the item meets certain repo criterias.

I also have a TV bought through a store other than sears on a secured cared. I was wondering if there is every negotiation to make payments for the current fair market value? Also, if they dont want the tv and want you to pay, will you need to pay in a lump sum, or can you still make monthly payments.

i'd consider reaffirming any high end units as long as you can reasonably afford it. I would research whom to reaffirm. I can tell that Rooms to Go does not show. My attorney says they never do. Sears will be there. If you can make the payments a Sears card is a nice thing to have. Keep a reasonable limit on the card, they will let you lower it.

When an appliance breaks it can get you out of trouble. As I deal in electronics, appliance repair is not a worry, but even i have to replace them eventually! The timer went on our washer recently. While waiting for the part (ten days) we spent approximately $60.00 at the laundromat, FULL LOADS ONLY. We picked and chose what to wash. I feel sorry for people who have families and have to use it, it is expensive to be poor ( of course poor here isn't really that poor).

Credit is still useful, if you use it right. The TV broke, we opted for a 27 inch Brandsmart Zenith for $248.00 instead of $1000.00 on the Visa. If the washer goes down for say, a motor I will put the $1700.00 Maytag in on the Visa. With 255.00 a month electric bills and 100.00 a month water bills I 've already researched the issue an d it will pay to finance it.

Bottom line, a Sears card is very convenient, especially if they want the unit returned, but if you save a visa or MC that can be just as good.
