they dont have to hire extra callers...they are automated dialers and when they get a "live" person an operator takes the call

Yes, there were hundreds of hang-ups.

Many who wanted to discuss an "important business matter" with me.

Some who were comically threatening (not so comical before discovering BK Forum!).

And a LOT of overseas accents. I think that was the creepiest thing of all - having people from other countries calling me about my debt.

I think the wildest collection calls I have got were from India. I would tell them I was filing BK and would get dead silence......I would then say "hello are you still there? May I give you my attorneys name and phone number".....more silence and then they would hang up on me.

What's funny is that now these same collection companys are sending me letters saying that I refused or ignored their attempts to contact me about my debt with them when it was their people hanging up on me.

What a crazy world....

I had my second mortgage company tell me that I should start packing because they were going to take my house, they also told me they would take everything I have worth any money and I would never be able to buy anything or get a checking account again. Freaked my wife out who does not handle those types of threats well. Last time I talked to them ( pre BK ) I told them to put up or shut up..........they shut up. Debt collectors make a living off making us feel like criminals, once you realize that they are just full of hot air you learn to laugh at them.

If you really want to have fun with one, before you let them go on their shpeel tell them that you are going to tape your conversation and then ask them to state their full name and company they work for. I did that to one and she stumbled for a while because I think she realized that now she could get in trouble if she threatened me.

Of course now the last several calls I have gotten were from Mortgage brokers promising the moon and of course every charity around. Not a creditor among them.
