    Question on timeline

We got a letter from a law office saying we have 30 days to contact them. I wonder if we have 90 days before they would file a lawsuit. Is it best to contact them even if you cannot pay?

If you're planning on filing withing the next 3 months (as you state in another post), then I wouldn't really bother contacting the law firm. Let them contact you, but DO NOT make any agreements with them, however I wouldn't answer the phone.

Even if the law firm files for suit, your BK will stop all collection efforts and the debt will be taken care of. Although you may have to deal with phone calls for a short while if you're not filed yet.

We got a couple letters like that from a couple different CC's.

If you don't do whatever within 30 days of the date of this letter, then,..........

The 30 days came and went. Another couple weeks went by. Then an identical letter from the same CC came again.

You never know if the Creditors are serious, serious, or if this is yet another scare tactic. Only time will tell. You just remain on alert and deal with whatever when you do file BK.

Be sure to save the letters tho. Our attny listed all the addresses from all the different letters on our Creditor's Matrix. Our attny was a "leave no address unlisted" type of guy when it came to notifying Creditors of our BK filing.
      Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
      Closed - 04/2007
