Hi there. I filed my CH 13 on the 19th of September. Well, I'm still getting calls from some of my creditors, ones that were included and should have gotten their paperwork by now notifying them on the bankruptcy. At what point do they stop calling? So far I've just been ignoring them when they come up on the caller ID, typically because either I'm at work and don't want to have to explain my CH 13 status in front of co-workers, or because I'm out somewhere and again don't want to discuss the situation in a public place. (Guess that's the problem with cell phones and not having a landline anymore!) The line has gotten less busy, only 2 or 3 creditors still calling every day instead of a dozen, but I guess I'm wondering if they ever stop on their own, or if I have to actually talk to them, tell them to check their darned paperwork and see that I've filed, and threaten to report them if they don't stop calling? I talked to several once we retained a lawyer and let them know to call her instead of me, which stemmed the flow somewhat, but right before we filed there was the 20 calls or more a day thing going on again, now it's down to just a few, but really thought the calls would be done with my now. Guess I'm just wondering what other people have experienced, and whether or not I'm going to have to start ducking into a private place every time I hear my cell ring so I can tell these dorks to stop calling. Be proactive and give them the case number, the filing date and your lawyers contact info. Also, inform your attorney. -
As soon as we filed our lawyer said we could let each creditor know that we filed 13,our case number and our lawyers name and number. You bet I took great pleasure in calling each and everyone of them to inform them myself and from that night on we got no more calls.
