Collection agencies..........

As I read the horror stories on this and other boards about collection agencies, one wonders who runs these.
While in the "old days", and maybe even today (especially in the illicit drugs business) collectors physically got money from people by/through violent means, today's collectors lie through their teeth to intimidate people into paying and constantly violating federal and state laws.
Banks/other creditors are too cheap to hire a significant staff to pursue the collection of past due bills, charge-offs, etc. Instead they farm out this process to high school droputs, dopeheads and former convicts.

What exactly is your question?

Hopefully, you're not making a judgement based on what you read on Internet forums. There are plenty of law-abiding collection agencies out there. But, like anything else in life, it's usually the negatives that get posted or make the 6 o'clock news.
