general collection ?'s

i last paid amex at the beginning of december. 2/7 they will be 60 days late.

several other cards are now 30 days late, approaching 45-60.

calls are starting.

i've read a lot here in the collections threads - i've put our real names on our answering machine so people know they are getting the correct people.

i'm not answering any calls that i don't know the number.

i'm thinking we won't be filing until late april or early may now.

i'm hoping to at least retain a lawyer in the next couple of weeks and then i will refer all calls to him (if i answer)

sound like a good plan? bad plan?

Contacting a lawyer now won't do diddly - since you are not filing until late April/early May. They will contnue to call until you/or your lawyer can give them a more specific date of filing. Until then they can/will hound you, start collections procedures.

Not sure about that as I had chase and BofA call I gave them my lawyer info and have not heard a peep in several weeks. I have not filled yet?

Our calls have decreased since we have retained a lawyer. We are following the same plan as you- I usually dont answer but my husband will occasionally. We are filing the first week of March.
