Income execution letter real or fake?

I received an income execution letter a couple weeks ago from the Sheriff's office by mail. I know debt collectors send out real looking letters etc. How do you tell if it is real or fake?? "These collection agencies send out these real official looking letters, but they're on a fishing expedition as some would say."

First question, do you have a judgement against you.

Second, go the Internet or phone book, and look-up the sheriffs dept. if the address, phone numbers etc match the letter, it is probably real (after all, what good would it do a collection agency to send out this letter and use the Sheriff's real phone number, if it was fake, their goal is to have you contact the CA, not the sheriff.)
