    Target Call

Well I have been slowly telling creditors about my BK when I see the need to tell that particular creditor. I have had no problem, they all just taken my attorney's info and then pretty much left me alone.

Yesterday I got a call from a collection agency for Target at work, which caught me completely off guard.

I told the woman that I could not speak to her there. She insisted we needed to talk because Target did not want to revoke my card (yeah, right) but I was very behind. I repeated to her that I could not speak to her at work and was not allowed any personal phone calls. She said "well you gave this number as a contact when you applied for the card". After I thought about it later, I realized that that was not true because when I got my card I had a different phone number. But whatever.

No one was around so I told her quietly that I was informing her that I was filing bankruptcy. She said "well until you actually file and have the attorney information, you are liable for this debt." I told her that I had the attorney information and was reaching for my wallet when she said "this is an attempt to collect a debt and all information obtained will be used for that purpose". I was silent. She says "hello??????". I say, "I'm here but I can't talk to you at work". She says "I'm just going to put down that you refused and the account will be charged off. Have a good day."

I said nothing and hung up.

    *****!
    there, I feel better.

Don't they just pi** you off when they do that?!! I had a few calls at my place of employment on my cell phone, I answered it because it's a small place and everyone was looking at me like "aren't you going to answer that?", so I did, but you know what I did, i acted like I couldn't hear the person, I kept saying "Hello" "Hello"...., then I hung up. I told everyone I couldn't hear the person and I had no clue who it was, I lied, but since it's a cell phone it was believable. I turned my phone off that day. They did get ahold of me later on and I told them that it was my cell phone and not to call that number again. For the most part most creditors have been decent, I can say almost human, even had a few who made me feel like I wasn't a horrible human being!

Anyway, I hope this one leaves you alone at work. My experience has been so far just answering all the calls that come in at home prevents them calling at work. I just simply tell them my attorney's name and phone number and that is all they ask for. Once asked for his mailing address which I didn't have handy and they were rude about that, but I didn't care. I told them what town he's in and they can look it up. At first I ignored calls, then after my cell call and DH getting a call at work, I decided just to answer them at home. Tell them the truth, and finally the calls have stopped. Hopefully we will file soon and then they will not be able to bother us anymore.

Yeah, I call them back too when it gets to the collection agency stage...and I thought I had called this one, but it was another that I had. This one hadn't left anything on my voicemail except her personal name and I had just received a dunning letter from Citibank for my 76 card....so that's who I called.

I can't wait to get filed either.....I keep saying just a couple more weeks but stuff keeps happening. Didn't get paid this week...payroll dropped the fricking ball and didn't pay any of the hourly people. At least I didn't write checks ahead of time counting on that money. Others did. Criminy!
