Hello,
I've read a lot about people using GrandCentral to deal with creditors, but that service is not available for new users at this time.
I did some research and found another way to manage the calls you receive on your cell phone. (does not work for land lines)
The company is YouMail.com (it's free). It's a voice mail management system, where all voice mail from your cell phone would be forwarded to. In there, you can have custom messages for different callers, as well as you can just dump calls without getting a VM if you want to. Using YouMail would basically keep your cell phone VM from being filled up with collectors.
A step better is if you have a Smartphone or a PocketPC phone. You can then install a free program called "Call Firewall" (http://freewareppc.com/communication/callfirewall.shtml). This little program basically runs in the background, and if you get a call from a collector (you get to add any phone numbers you want), it automatically goes to your VM (thus YouMail.com), so your phone never even rings.
I have this setup running for last few days and it's great. Any creditor that calls to whom I don't want to talk only gets to call me once, then I block their number on my phone, and dump their VM's using YouMail.
