    Is it fraud?

Well I've been experimenting by changing my phone number on my accounts that I can access online. The creditors auto dialers dial straight from what I put in.

My question is....is it considered fraud if I put the wrong number down? For example, I am now using the rejection hotline number for all my accounts and have seen a huge decrease in the number of calls I get all day.

I'm sure someone else has done this. I just don't want to jeopardize my BK with this simple way of ignoring creditors.

    Thanks!

Given you're going to file in less than a month I doubt it will jeopardize you. Avoiding contact leads them to usually seek a court remedy but it would take more than a month before they started that.

Avoiding contact is the opposite of what you should be doing.

If creditors can't contact you then...

      1. They are more likely to move toward court action, after all, if they cannot contact you it is easier to get a court judgment

      2. The law allows them to start contacting third parties to locate you, family, neighbors, employers etc.

According to you sig, you are filing in less than a month, so you really don't need to go to the trouble of changing your phone number.
