Accts charged off, what is coming next?

I stopped paying my credit cards and lines of credit last August. I have over $150,000 in unsecured credit card debt.

I get lots of calls, but I don't answer. I will be filing bankruptcy soon. I am getting the papers together now.

I have been getting notices of charge-offs now. What comes next? The lawsuits and judgements?

Probably. The charge off is not debt forgiveness. It is charged off their books as a capital loss. I don't understand all I know about bookkeeping, but you still owe the money and yes they probably will sell the debt now.

I attempted to pay two accounts I had no wish to default on. To my surprise, they did not exist and I could not make a payment to them. They were accounts backed by a bigger bank that I did include. So I guess that was a bounus. 'Hub
